3 Reasons I do Daily Dispatch as a Copywriter

Show Your Work is the bible of creativity.

It contains great tips and lessons for anyone who does creative work.

And there is one tip that I implement daily - the Daily Dispatch.

A page from the book (You don’t need to read it :))

What is a Daily Dispatch? 📩

Daily dispatch is sharing something from your work every day on social media.

  • If I brainstorm ideas for a new article - I’ll share my ideas.
  • If I learn something new - I share what I’ve learned.
  • If I finish a project - I’ll link to it. No matter where I am in the process, every day at 5:30 PM I go over my todo app and share one interesting thing I’ve done.

My finished tasks today

Why do daily dispatches? 📦

1/ Creating a public portfolio

This method shows clients and partners that I’m consistent and that I’m always working on something.

Plus, future followers will dive into the backlog, so every piece will continue to work and build trust with future readers.

When someone stumbles upon my feed and notices months of steady, thoughtful content, it establishes credibility.

I hope it will help me build better relationships and find awesome clients to work with.

2/ Audience on autopilot

I’ve started doing this to put myself out there just for the sake of it. Each post is like a micro lottery ticket that can go viral or lead to an interesting connection.

These things did happen, but I’ve also started gaining followers passively.

I have 471 followers without even trying.

I just post what I did once a day, and I don’t follow anyone or comment at all.

3/ Becoming a better thinker & writer

Sharing things daily forces me to articulate my ideas.

When you have to distill your thoughts into 280-character tweets every day, you become a better thinker.

It’s like journaling in public: I reflect on my day, celebrate a win, train my thinking muscles, and share something with the world.

Win - Win - Win.

Bonus: Document my process ✍🏽

It’s nice to look at my feed and see where I was 3 or 6 months ago. This is motivating during times when I feel like I hit a plateau.

Daily dispatch is a very low-hanging fruit for every copywriter.

It’s not supposed to be mentally taxing. It’s an extension of what you already do.

Set a reminder for 5:30 PM, spend 5 minutes thinking about what you did today, and share a small update on your favorite social media platform.

Have a great weekend everyone 😎
