A client recently insisted on writing his own hero title.
He came up with the worst title ever.
I warned him. Explained to him. Multiple time.
But itβs his site, and he made his decision.
His title of choice?
Welcome to [Name of the Business]

Why is it so bad?
The hero headline is the most important text on the page. Thatβs the first thing people read. And if you donβt grab their attention within 5 seconds? they bounce and you might lost a client.
βWelcome toβ type headlines say nothing about what the business does, who itβs for, or why they should care.
It actually doesnβt say anything at all.
Your hero headline job is to make people read the subtitle. The subtitle earns the scroll. The rest of the page earns the click.
The fix
Donβt be polite or clever in your title.
Be clear.
Tell me, fast: βWe do [what], for [who], so [why it matters].β
For example: β βWelcome to our website.β β βWe help real estate investors save hours on property valuations.β

Imagine your target client entering your site for the first time. What you need him to know ASAP so heβll stay interested?
