does your website have the worst headline ever? πŸ’€

It sounds like a good choice, but it's actually the worst.

does your website have the worst headline ever? πŸ’€

A client recently insisted on writing his own hero title.

He came up with the worst title ever.

I warned him. Explained to him. Multiple time.

But it’s his site, and he made his decision.

His title of choice?

Welcome to [Name of the Business]

Why is it so bad?

The hero headline is the most important text on the page. That’s the first thing people read. And if you don’t grab their attention within 5 seconds? they bounce and you might lost a client.

β€œWelcome to” type headlines say nothing about what the business does, who it’s for, or why they should care.

It actually doesn’t say anything at all.

Your hero headline job is to make people read the subtitle. The subtitle earns the scroll. The rest of the page earns the click.

The fix

Don’t be polite or clever in your title.

Be clear.

Tell me, fast: ”We do [what], for [who], so [why it matters].”

For example: ❌ β€œWelcome to our website.” βœ… β€œWe help real estate investors save hours on property valuations.”
